About The Exam

MRI in operation

MRI is a non-invasive procedure with no known negative side-effects.  The procedure is performed without radiation and provides images of the interior of virtually any area of the human body. It is a painless procedure and is useful as a primary means of quick and accurate diagnosis of patients by physicians. No special preparations are required prior to the exam. The patient can resume normal activities and intake of medications after an MRI exam, unless otherwise directed by the physician.
A typical procedure averages about 20-40 minutes depending on the type of information required by the physician. During the MRI examination, a technologist will be present constantly for the patient. If enhancement of MRI images is requested by physicians, a contrast agent will be administered to the patient by the technologist.
Before entering the MRI examination room, patients will be asked to remove and leave items not compatible with the magnetic field in a secured location outside the room. Accordingly, patients will be asked to remove any make-up or dentures and to wear a hospital gown to avoid magnetic interference by items such as belt buckles and zippers. The technologist will need to be informed of any implants and any other items that may not be compatible with the MRI procedure.

MRI Images

MRI images are professionally interpreted by board-certified radiologists, including subspecialists such as Neuroradiologists and MSK specialists. Turnaround time for a formal radiology report is less than 24 hours.

Our center strives to provide our patients with the latest technology. MRI images are available either on CD or film. Both options are of outstanding quality. The contrast of CD images can be adjusted to different levels for viewing. We will provide MRI CD’s to patients upon completion of each study.
